It’s all about the tunes
We spend a lot of time at our offices in the Lower East Side. Much of it involves thinking through new product features, enhancing existing ones and squashing those annoying bugs. To keep us all entertained throughout the long hours, we rely on our trusty jukebox. It’s a piece of software called PlayerPal that plugs into iTunes and gives you browser access to all your music. Themes for each day are beginning to form, but for the most part we take our chances with the shuffle feature.
Stuff we’re pretty into these days include: The Shins, Flaming Lips, TV on the Radio, Whitest Boy Alive, Hot Chip and too many others to mention. If anyone has some suggestions on new stuff, please chime in.

I recommend Mew, Wolf Parade, and the soundtrack to Paheli. I’ve also been listening to some 80s synthpop–Peter Godwin and OMD. But the good, old, underplayed OMD (Crush) that isn’t on iTunes for some reason.
My Mom wishes me to add that she has been listening to Bing Crosby’s version of “Love in Bloom.” It’s very tender. It will melt your heart.
I’ve also been listening to a lot of Mariachi music. And that is no joke.

I can’t really recommend other groups, but check out pandora.com. It’s a great site (I don’t have any connection to it, just listen all day long).
Make your own station with music you like, and sit back and let it find other groups that are similar to your tastes.

I recommend Movements by Booka Shade (German electronic class) and Hats Off To The Buskers by The View. These are the two albums contributing to my hearing loss today!

Pandora rocks. Since we’re plugging music sites, check out MusicGremlin.com, a NY based startup with the first wireless-iPod out there. Very un-Zune

P.O.S. // Audition — just don’t call it rap-rock
Ammoncontact // With Voices — good at-work tunes
Apples in Stereo // New Magnetic Wonder — i wonder if these guys like the beatles?
Calla // Collisions — not new, but since I left NY it feels right to play this
Clipse // Hell Hath No Fury — maybe a tad raw for the workday…
Also dig up “Standing in the way of control” by Gossip; excellent single
